Republic Services: Autocar Heil Python
Earlier in 2019, Republic Services purchased the assets and customers of Curbside Recycling & Disposal. Unfortunately, all but one of Curbside's side loaders were deemed too unsafe to repair or use again. Therefore, the older side loaders that would have been replaced by the recently-received 520 ZRs have seen continued life running Curbside's old routes. While Curbside and Republic competed against each other in open market areas of Phoenix HOAs, Cave Creek and Carefree, many of their routes were in very rural areas Republic or WM didn't wish to service. Unfortunately, Curbside was one of those smaller companies that existed to build a customer base to sell off. Many of the Curbside customers who preferred to support local business have moved to Area Disposal, who recently expanded their service area into this part of town ;)
Seen here is an Autocar Python collecting recycling in an unincorporated/rural portion of far north Phoenix, just south of Cave Creek. On this particular route day, former Curbside customers receive trash & recycling, while Republic customers only receive recycling. A total of four trucks tackle a relatively small area as the stops are spread out among windy dirt roads. Other trucks in the area included 2 new ZRs and a 320 Rapid Rail.

Area's newest truck seen here handling recycling in the rural open-market town of Cave Creek, Arizona. This truck formerly belonged to a local Indian Reservation prior to being sold to Alliance shortly before their demise. Catch one of Phoenix's fastest drivers (previously featured in a refurbished Rapid Rail) in his regular truck: one of three Amrep N3s refurbished onto an older diesel Pete 320. Can't express how satisfying it is to see such a quick driver / truck in silver / purple instead of the typical Scorpion you'd expect.

Showcasing three trucks from the White Tanks Hauling. Not long ago, the yard was nearly entirely older 320 and Autocar Autoreaches. These days, it's almost entirely 100% 520 Amreps. The MetroPak is the McNeilus version of the Formula 4000 from Heil with some changes, new packer plate, new curved shell body. Retained the old classic tailgate with only some changes

Great video Christian, glad you were able to catch some footage of a unique republic truck like this compared to something common you’d see from them these days; furthermore, does this mean that curbside disposal is completely gone now? Is that ex Phoenix Volvo RR you filmed before completely toasted, or was it somehow miraculously the one deemed “still safe” to run? I’d be surprised to see the shape it was left in and compare it to this thing, because the hydraulics of this python seem to be a bit out of shape haha. Good stuff brother, hope all is well.

Truck sounds like it's got some issues, poor driver I'm sure he is ready to drive a new truck haha. Always love seeing the pythons that yard has over there, do you know how old this truck is? I hope you will film a new ZR from the yard, I'm curious to see how they run them over there. Always enjoy when you post.

The forks on this truck seem unusually long to me for an LA area truck. I cant decide if the bin at 4:00 is a 2yd or 3yd, but the forks on our trucks seem to match a 3yd perfectly, and that seems to be the standard for adjustable forks.

Alright, I think I've seen it all. First of all, its homemade. That's bizarre. Second, its like how a bunch of companies from the 30's collected refuse. Where did the republic services bins come from?
They landed the contract for that neighborhood, so the people with different company carts forgot to put them out for removal when the company’s came to collect the carts
